. The most spiritual people I know, regardless of the specifics of their faith, are those who profess to have a personal relationship with God or their Higher Power. They do not rely on a system or leader or dogma to frame their beliefs. Please read this post with that in mind:Many of my friends are fond of calling me a "liberal", primarily because of my deep loathing and disgust of all things "Bush". As further evidence they point to the fact that I am firmly in the "worst president ever" camp.
However, they are seriously wrong when they assume that I also go along with all that other "liberal" stuff, like "multi-culturalism", "respect for other religious faiths", "political correctivism" and blah, blah blah.
Again, WRONG! I won't go into "multi-culturalism", since I don't even know what the hell that means, and political correctivism just bores me, but I would like to make my position clear on religious faith, in it's organized form.
It"s stupid. It's ridiculous. It's dangerous. It's insane. It's why Shiites and Sunnis are blowing each other up, or beheading each other. It's why six million Jews were murdered (yeah, the Nazis thought they had a religion). It's why there was an inquisition. It's why meth-addicted, closeted gay, hypocritical, lying, religious leaders think they can get away with paying a male hooker for sex. It's why Bushie (yeah, I know I obsess on this guy) thinks he can evoke the name of a "just and loving God" when speaking (using words written by one of his political hacks) about the murder of 32 human beings by a lunatic. Just and loving ?? Are you kidding me?
In fact, religious faith is why we're in this whole godawful mess in Iraq. God spoke to Bushie! He gave him the go ahead!. He's on our side! Go team, go!!
Actually, that isn't quite accurate. Bushie had a lot of other dark, inexplicable reasons for invading a country that had nothing to do with 9-11 (I'll go into that some other day). He just used God, and religious faith, as one of his public excuses.
So, if you mean by "liberal" that I have respect for other religions, you are wrong. I have no respect for any religion. In my "politically correct" world, they are rightfully called superstitions.
