News outlets this past weekend took great delight in reporting the story of an old woman who fended off a vicious attack from a would-be mugger. As always , they decreed this to be hilarious. As always, the phrase, "You Go Granny", was gleefully uttered by the various, vacuous, bobblehead anchors, while also appearing at the bottom of the screen.
There is nothing funny about a mugging, no matter the age of the victim. It's not a cute human interest story. It's not the kind of news that allows the anchors free reign to grin like idiots while reporting it. Why don't they already know this?
